Window Installation FAQs in Bentleigh

How are new windows measured for Bentleigh homes?

Athans Building Services measures the opening and checks the surrounding area before fitting a new window. Accurate measurements help determine the frame size and whether any preparation or timber repairs are needed. The team can discuss the opening and the type of window planned before work begins.

What happens to old frames during installation?

When replacing a window, the old frame is removed and the opening is checked for damage or worn timber. Any necessary repairs are made before the new frame is fitted with packers and fixings. This helps the window sit correctly and connect neatly with the surrounding wall.

Can window openings be changed for larger units?

The framing can sometimes be adjusted to suit a different window size. Creating a new opening may also be possible in a suitable non structural wall. The existing wall and framing need to be assessed first, as not every opening can be changed in the same way.

Do you install sliding and awning windows?

Athans Building Services can fit sliding, awning and double hung window units as part of window installation carpentry. The frame is positioned and secured within the prepared opening, with packers and fixings used as needed. The window type and opening will guide the fitting requirements.

How are interior edges finished after fitting?

Once the window is fitted, timber reveals, sills, architraves or trim can be installed to finish the interior edges. These details create a neat connection between the frame and the surrounding wall. The finish depends on the opening and the existing interior materials in the home.

Why might surrounding timber need repair before fitting?

Timber around a window opening can become worn or damaged over time. Repairing affected areas before fitting helps provide a sound surface for the new frame and fixings. Athans Building Services checks the surrounding timber during preparation and can carry out suitable repairs as part of the installation.
