Window Installation FAQs in Cheltenham

How do you prepare a window opening?

Athans Building Services measures the opening and checks the surrounding area before fitting a window. The team prepares the space, removes any materials that need clearing and checks the timber so the new frame can sit correctly. Careful preparation helps create a neat connection between the window and the surrounding wall.

What happens when an old frame needs removal?

The existing frame is removed carefully, with attention to the nearby walls and timber. The opening is then checked for damage, and any suitable repairs can be made before fitting the replacement frame. This helps the new window sit properly and gives the surrounding area a tidy finish.

Can you fit different window styles in Cheltenham?

Athans Building Services can fit sliding, awning and double hung window units in Cheltenham homes. The opening and surrounding framing are checked to make sure they suit the selected window. Where needed, the carpentry can include fitting the frame, packers and fixings, along with finishing the interior edges.

Do you repair timber around a window opening?

Yes, surrounding timber can be repaired as part of window installation when its condition allows. The team checks the timber around the opening and addresses suitable repairs before fitting the new frame. If the framing needs changes to suit a different window size, that can also be assessed as part of the work.

What trim finishes the inside edge neatly?

Timber reveals, sills, architraves and trim can be fitted to finish the interior edges of a window. The right details depend on the opening and the surrounding wall. Athans Building Services takes care with these finishing elements so the window connects neatly with the inside of the home.

Why might a window opening need reframing?

An opening may need reframing when a replacement window is a different size from the old one. Suitable non structural walls may also be adjusted to create a new opening. The existing wall and framing need to be assessed first, so the required carpentry can be planned for the window to fit correctly.
