Window Installation FAQs in Brighton East

How are window openings measured before installation?

The team measures the opening and checks the surrounding framing before fitting a window. This helps confirm the new unit will sit correctly and highlights any preparation or timber repairs needed. For Brighton East homes, each opening is assessed on site, as existing sizes and conditions can vary.

What happens to old frames during replacement?

For a replacement, the existing frame is carefully removed so the opening can be checked and prepared. Any damaged surrounding timber can be repaired before the new frame is installed with suitable packers and fixings. The aim is a secure fit and a neat connection with the surrounding wall.

Can a window opening be changed in Brighton East?

A suitable non structural wall may be adjusted to create a different sized opening, but the existing framing needs to be assessed first. Changes to structural walls may need additional advice and approvals. Athans Building Services checks the site conditions before confirming what carpentry work is suitable for a Brighton East home.

Do you fit different styles of window units?

The carpentry can include fitting sliding, awning and double hung window units. The opening, frame and fixing approach are checked against the chosen unit so it sits correctly. The team can discuss the existing conditions and the window style you have selected before the installation work is planned.

What interior trim is fitted around new windows?

Depending on the opening and finish required, the work can include timber reveals, sills, architraves and other trim. These pieces finish the interior edges and create a tidy join between the window and surrounding wall. The details are considered as part of preparing the opening and fitting the frame.

Why does accurate fitting matter for new windows?

A well prepared opening and accurately fitted frame help the window sit properly and connect neatly with the surrounding walls. Packers and fixings support the frame, while careful finishing improves the appearance of the interior edges. Athans Building Services pays close attention to these details on window installation jobs.
